Taormina Mare (Mazzeo & Letojanni)

Numerous beach lido’s are open between April and October in the resorts of Mazzeo and Letojanni.

There is a long beachside promenade where you will discover the resort’s bars and restaurants, some of which are located directly on the beach and offering delicious fresh fish dishes.

The central piazza is overlooked by a beautiful church and comes to life at night with it’s many pavement cafés where you can enjoy an aperitif or icecream whilst doing a spot of people watching.

There are plenty of shops in the resort centre and prices are much cheaper than the designer boutiques that are to be found in Taormina.

Taxi’s available day and night at competitive rates.

Taormina and Mazzaro can be easily reached by a regular shuttle bus and cable car service. Public bus stops nearby with services to Catania and Messina.

Car Hire and excursions to all major sights can be booked with Teresa or Francesco.

Aeolian Islands

Someone once said to me that the best thing about Sicily was it’s islands and you won’t be disappointed.

Lipari is the largest of the Aeolian Islands and a very popular holiday destination for wealthy Italians.

Wander through the narrow cobbled streets where you will discover trendy boutiques, restaurants and cafes. The Island sparkles with the bright white houses, similar to those found on small Greek Islands. All surrounded by the crystal clear waters of the Ionian sea.

Vulcano is a volcanic island offering therapeutic mud baths and dark beaches. Venture even further a field to some of the other Aeolian Islands and discover even more breathtaking beauty.

Discover the archeological importance of historical sites that are said to be more amazing than those in Athens!

These temples have to be seen to be believed.

The area known as ‘Taormina Mare’ (Beaches to Taormina) is the coastline below the cosmopolitan hilltop town of Taormina.

One of the most beautiful spots along this coast is Isola Bella – well worth a visit for excellent photo opportunities or a delicious fish lunch.

The east coast offers dramatic coastal scenery and beaches range from long sandy stretches in Giardini Naxos to small pebbly coves in Mazzaro and Isola Bella – opening up to wide shingle beaches with beautiful clear waters in Mazzeo and Letojanni. All are easily reached by public transport.

The mystical village of Castelmola sits above Taormina and offers incredible views out to mainland Italy and the bay of Naxos.

The tiny cobbled streets offer a selection of delicious restaurants and a sprinkling of local bars.

Marsala wine is produced in this village, well worth a try.

Mt. Enta

The largest, most active volcano in Europe and not to be missed.

Etna is continually rumbling and erupts most years.

Don’t miss out on the chance to trek across the old steaming craters. Coaches can reach 1900m and from there, the only way up is by cable car and jeep.

Two unique local villages, Savoca and Forza D’Agro.

Sicily does not get more Sicilian than this which is why they were chosen for scenes from the famous Godfather films.

These villages offer only peace and tranquillity with the sound of church bells chiming on the hour.

The hustle and bustle of this busy city.

Palermo has a wealth of history and beautiful architecture.

Visit the Palatine Chapel, the Norman Palace , Cathedral and Catacombs. Check out the shopping if you have time.

Cathedral Norman Palace

A beautiful city where ancient history meets modern day life.

A stunning cathedral stands in one of the most impressive piazza’s in Sicily. The archaeological park is worth a visit with beautiful Roman and Greek amphitheatres

Taormina enjoys a mountain top position with shingle beaches and lidos below in the area known as Taormina Mare.

Taormina offers fabulous architecture, ancient walled streets, cobbled walk ways, a pedestrian only main street lined with trendy pavement cafes and bars and spectacular views from wherever you look – it really is breathtakingly beautiful.

A beautiful, bustling and cosmopolitan resort offering a great variety of shops, bars, restaurants and designer boutiques sitting alongside the world’s third largest Greek Theatre, which has to be seen to be believed as the views are out of this world.
