The nearest airport is Catania (www.aeroporto.catania.it), located 60kms from resort.

Public buses are available from the airport to Taormina every hour for a small charge. Alternatively, you can take a bus from the airport to Catania train station and then a train to Taormina. All major car hire companies operate from Catania airport should you wish to hire a car.

A private taxi transfer can be arranged for you at a cost of approx. €200 return. Please let us know at time of booking if you require this service. Throughout the summer there are many charter airlines flying to Catania, they include:
Thomson Fly (www.ThomsonFly.com) have direct flights during the summer from Manchester and Gatwick.

Easyjet (www.EasyJet.com) have flights from Manchester and Gatwick.

Alitalia (www.alitalia.co.uk) have daily flights to Catania from most of their Northern Italy airports, you would need to link up with one of these flights.

Ryanair (www.ryanair.com) now fly to a new airport in Sicily (COMISO), approx 1.5hrs from Taormina.

Another option, often cheaper, is to fly to Palermo with Ryanair (www.ryanair.com) from London Stansted. They offer a daily direct service all year round. Palermo is located on the North of the island and requires a journey time of approx 3 hours to reach Taormina, car hire is recommended should you choose this option.

Eating Out

There are also numerous bars, restaurants and shops, particularly along the main street (Corso Umberto), which runs the entire length of the old town. Be prepared to pay a cover charge (coperto) of €2-€5 per person.

Taormina, which has an ideal geographical position between the land and the sea, allows you to choose both meat, which you must try in one of the several trattorie on the slopes of Mount Etna, and fish. Fish is the true protagonist at the dinner table, however, especially swordfish and smaller fish like tuna, mackerel, sardines and anchovies that are always extra fresh, and that are prepared in various ways, according to the traditional Sicilian cooking recipes and served in all the restaurants in Taormina.
